Air India Express
Air India Express has a story which starts with the launch of its pilot flight from Trivandrum , India to Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates on 29 th April 2005. Air India Express is a first of its kind low cost international carrier of India . Being a subsidiary of the national airliner of India 'Air India Express ', it carries tremendous responsibility to perform well. The basic plan was to operate Air India express flights on low yielding international routes. So far it has shown strong performance replacing Air India on several routes and garnering good load factors in many of its routes. Air India flights run on a mono type configuration with only one class of planes, Boeing 737-800s. Its 15 Boeing strong fleet will soon be increased with Air India Express placing order for 68 Aircrafts which include 18 Boeing 737-800s to augmentAir India Express flight strength.
Recently the merger of Air India Express and Indian Airlines has shown strong indication of the merger of Air India Express with Alliance Air which is a fully owned subsidiary of Indian Airlines. This will tremendously increase the fleet strength of Air India Express, and may even lead to increase in frequency of flights by the Air India Express.
Another Interesting feature of Air India Express are the beautiful liveries on their planes. So far each of Air India Expressaircraft has a unique livery of its own which reflects the cultural richness of India in the form of liveries depicting various dance forms, musical instruments, Indian wildlife and important monuments.
Recently plans have been going to introduce Air India Express to other international destinations like Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia following the air liberalization pacts between the India and Malaysia. As time goes by Air India Expressis expected to add many more destination to the Air India Express Flight's routes
